Christmas and the winter holidays are festive times. Add in a wedding celebration, and you will surely find yourself feeling merry. If you are like most wedding guests, you will also find yourself wondering what on earth you should wear! This is a helpful guide to help you decide what to wear to a holiday wedding.

The first thing to keep in mind is that a December wedding is going to be more festive and dressy than one at a different time of the year. It is simply the spirit of the season. This means that you would dress up more for a holiday wedding than you would for one at the same time of day in the summer or fall. Even in the daytime, guests can have fun wearing luxurious fabrics like velvet and accessorizing with plenty of sparkly jewelry, such as Swarovski crystal bracelets.

For an afternoon holiday wedding, one of the best looks is a velvet ensemble in a jewel tone. Think about what you might wear if you were hosting a holiday open house and choose something along those lines. A great style would be a flowing pair of silk velvet trousers worn with a beaded cashmere cardigan over a silk cami. For daytime, try to stay away from too much black; velvet in rich shades like ruby, forest, navy, or brown will be more festive and cheerful.

Another wonderful daytime wedding outfit would be a fitted velvet jacket worn over a skirt with patent leather heels. A long silk crepe skirt with great movement would be lovely, or choose a knee length pencil skirt. To add dimension and visual interest, layer in contrasting fabrics, such as a satin pencil skirt with a portrait collar velvet jacket. Have some fun with wintery accessories, such as Swarovski crystal snowflake earrings worn with a few ruby red crystal bracelets. This will put the perfect finishing touch on your holiday wedding attire.

When you are invited to an evening holiday wedding, it is your chance to really dress to the nines. Short beaded cocktail dresses are smashing, as are long ballskirts worn with fitted tops. Even in the winter, many of the formal items are sleeveless, so be sure to buy a stylish wrap. A fur shrug or a luxe cashmere wrap would be gorgeous and cozy. For even more style, secure your wrap with a jeweled brooch. Of course, if the wedding is black tie, a full length evening gown is ideal, worn with silk shoes. You may even wish to add a special accent to your hair, such as a set of crystal hairpins. Swarovski crystal chandelier earrings will also look amazing for such a fancy wedding.

The gentlemen invited to a holiday wedding should also plan to step up their style a notch. They can have some fun with richly textured suits in flannel or tweed for the day, or wear a dashing tuxedo for a formal evening wedding. Add a touch of holiday cheer to the outfit with a plaid bowtie or a straight tie with a subtle winter pattern, such as a holly design. Subtle being the key word here: no ties depicting snowboarding Santas or ones with light-up Rudolph noses, please!

A winter holiday wedding is unmatched for its festive nature. As a guest at such a wedding, you will have the chance to put together a really fantastic outfit which will be a lot of fun to wear. Take advantage of the opportunity, and choose wedding guest attire that is festive and a bit glamorous.

Does getting away for a short winter holiday sound appealing? Are you trying to work out where to go for the holidays? Winter is a brilliant time of year to go on holiday, whether you’re looking to enjoy the sun, or hit the slopes on a skiing trip, getting away during the colder, darker months is always a welcome break from the usual rain and grey skies.

There’s a wealth of information on the web which can also provide information! It’s just a case of looking out for those winter bargains. A cheap winter holiday is a really good way to keep the kids happy during the lead-up to Christmas!

Why not take a holiday to the USA for some winter sunshine. Try Miami, Florida or the Florida keys. Anywhere else in the US will be a bit cold at this time of year. The keys and Miami are fairly close so you can visit both, California southern that is and Palm Desert or Palm, both warm and sunny and plenty to do.

Switzerland, France, Egypt, Dubai, Africa, Tunisia, Mayan Riviera, Caribbean, Barbados, Mexico, Australia / New Zealand, Hong Kong, are just a few more destinations for a winter holiday.

You could also try a world cruise or an all inclusive package holiday. If you are looking for sun and golden beaches try the Caribbean, Goa, or Thailand. You could also hit the slopes for ski and snowboarding winter holiday. Make your winter holiday a time to relax and have fun with your family! There are so many winter holidays and you can choose to celebrate them all.

Cruise ships are suited for families because they are self-contained, with plenty to for children so parents can relax by the pool safe in the knowledge that the kids are well occupied in one of the many activities arranged by the staff. For the adults cruise ships will provide all night casinos and some fantastic duty-free shopping to indulge in. You can also dine in various places at all times so even the fussiest of eaters will not go hungry, at any time of day or night!

All-inclusive holiday packages are great alternatives for sun-seekers looking for flexibility. There are plenty of activities to entertain children, either playing in the pool or partaking in kids clubs, the cost of which is often included in your overall package. Although it may mean spending a bit longer in the air, it’s worth the effort once you are relaxing on golden sands looking at turquoise oceans.

Many families can be scared about taking the family to the slopes thinking that it may be too dangerous and stressful with kids in tow, but going on holiday as a group of families is the perfect way to ensure everybody has a good time. Most resorts offer ski classes even the youngest of kids! Children may feel more confident with some friends from home around. Snowboarding lessons are a popular and and different to learning to skiing, whilst toboggan runs provide a less energetic way of getting down the slopes. Off the slopes you can enjoy exploring the shops, cafes and restaurants.

Every sort of holiday takes place in a particular season. With due consideration to the ongoing season, it has always been essential to pack the appropriate clothing so that there is no stress during the travel.

I shall now list down three outfit ideas for your winter sun holidays so that the clothing packed shall provide you with ease and relaxation.

Black linen trousers are a holiday essential during winter sun holidays. They are comfortable to wear during all sorts of climates. It does not even matter much if they happen to crease during the travel. These trousers have a versatile yet classic touch to them and therefore, can create an effortless yet stylish look from the start of the day till the setting of the sun.

It is also advised to pack more tops as compared to the variety of trousers in your suitcase. You should pack cool cotton t-shirts for daywear and some comfortable formal tops for any ceremonial event or an evening.

You can also pack a pair of flat sandals or flip flops. They not only look great with a bikini or even silk kaftans but are very comfortable and relaxing. They do not have a very casual look and can be worn during day time. Pretty sundresses look fabulous with their plain look with flats or flip flops. You can add a bit of accessories before going out for an evening.

For those colder evenings, you are suggested to take with you a full-size multi-way cardigan, which you can carry in numerous unique manners. Ideal for wearing on the plane, in case of those frosty gushes, this important item means a lot, and it does not even take up a lot of space in your holiday suitcases or luggage.

All the aforementioned ideas shall only contribute to your trip which you must be expecting to be devoid of any sort of disruption. Clothing material effect drastically on your mood, and in order to make your mood livelier, it is important to be careful at selection of the clothing you pack while going for a winter sun holiday.

If your family loves to ski, you should try a winter holiday instead of just a day or weekend here and there. There are some great locations for a family vacation of skiing.

Maine has one of the best and most beautiful ski centers at Sugarloaf. Sugarloaf Mountain became a ski destination back in 1951 when “The Bigelow Boys” cut a ski trail. Sugarloaf Mountain is the second highest mountain in the state of Maine, second only to Mount Katahdin, the highest.

Cannon Mountain, in New Hampshire, in addition to great skiing also is home to the New England Ski Museum. Here anyone interested in the sport can view old ski equipment and clothes, and see movies, photos and art all connected with skiing. This collection is recognized as one of the best sources for information on the sport of skiing, and the United States Ski Association cites it as only one of four museums in the country devoted to the interest of the skiing community.

Ontario, Canada has a beautiful and large ski resort on the south side of Georgian Bay called Blue Mountain. This ski center boasts a number of six man chair lifts and a lovely pedestrian village. This is a pretty spot for both skiing and lounging.

Whiteface Mountain in New York State is a premier ski range, once home of the winter Olympics. It is the fifth highest mountain in the state, and one of the highest peaks of the Adirondack mountain range. At the top of Whiteface, one has a complete panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and when the weather is clear, you can see Vermont and all the way to Canada. Located near the charming town of Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain ski area boasts the greatest vertical drop in the eastern United States.

Colorado is famous for skiing, and Aspen is synonymous with the sport. The locals call this town by its former name of Ajax, but by any name, it is a skier’s dream. Alongside its famous sister resort, Vail, it draws many visitors to great vacations each year.

Park City Utah is another western gem that is popular. This resort was the location of the 2002 winter Olympics, and so is a world class ski center.

The origin of skiing comes from snow shoeing, which was a necessity to get around in certain regions of the world. Sondre Norheim is considered the father of skiing. This Norwegian invented slalom skiing in the 1800s, today known as Telemark skiing. Skiing had purely practical roots as a transportation method, but today it is mostly considered a sport and people are attracted to the thrill of a fast downhill run in warm clothes on a cleared and patrolled slope, rather than using it to get from place to place. Even cross country skiers tend to stick to the resort area for safety, and many European cities, where the sport is most popular, ban cross country skiing outside of resort areas.

Many people love the freedom of flying down the slopes but it is important to take lessons and gain some basic skills to avoid injury. Most ski resorts have schools and instructors ready to get snow bunnies up and off on their skis.

If you are in relatively good shape, skiing is not a difficult sport to learn; it just requires some balance and strength. After a day of vigorous skiing, there is nothing like relaxing in the lodge with a cup of hot cocoa by the blazing fire, so if you want to try a great vacation that’s a little different, try one of these resorts.

For Christians in America, December 25th is probably the most important holiday of the winter season. Even for those who celebrate Christmas in a more secular way, with the emphasis on gift-giving, parties and Santa Claus, Christmas is probably the top winter holiday. They decorate their yards, their houses and their Christmas trees and gather to celebrate family tradition. Some of those traditions might include special foods, hanging stockings for the children or making a trip to see Santa at the mall, where the children can have their picture taken every year.

Christmas is definitely a major holiday in the US and in most of the world, but it’s not the only holiday that is celebrated in the colder months. Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and the Winter Solstice are three holidays which many people observe.

Kwanzaa, based on traditional African “First Fruits” festivals, runs from December 26th through January 1st. It’s a time for families to reaffirm their commitment to each other, to gather for communal meals and honor African- American traditions. Children are encouraged to participate and elders and ancestors are acknowledged.

Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday, follows the Hebrew calendar, but usually falls in December. It is also called “The Festival of Lights” and commemorates the Maccabee Rebellion, when the Temple Menorah was miraculously rekindled for eight days from one container of oil that should only have lasted for one day. Some Hanukkah customs include gifts of gelt (gold) coins or dreidels (tops) to children, lighting candles and saying blessings each night and extra services at the Temple.

The Winter Solstice, around December 21st or 22nd, is the shortest day (or longest night) of the year. There are many holidays that occur around this date, probably because it has been celebrated since the dawn of time. In dark midwinter, humans have always gathered for mutual protection and have sought light, food and warmth. During these festivals, candles and fires are lit to signify and reassure that the light of the sun will return.

Although these winter holidays are all different, they have some things in common. They are all based on tradition. They all celebrate family, food, festivities and good fellowship. Christmas and Hanukkah celebrate faith also and religious tradition. Kwanzaa is a link to the past for African- Americans and a way to honor their ancestral connection to Africa. The Winter Solstice is an earth-centered tradition whose beginnings are shrouded in the mists of human history.

In the dark days of winter, when the sun sets early and the winds blow snow against our windows, people gather to celebrate. They seek what humans have always sought in winter: light, warmth, food and human companionship.

The reason behind going for a Winter-Sun-Holiday is to get your mind off the daily routine and experience a weather that is extremely enjoyable. Winter is all about layering to protect yourself from the cold and staying inside your cozy rooms. For some odd reason, there is not much activity going on in winters because the sun goes down early, making it extremely chilly at night. Therefore, it becomes a must for families and friends to go out for a winter sun holiday, if you want to grab the excitement and fun of the winter season.

While most of us become busy selecting venues, places and locations to visit during the winter-sun-holiday, we forget to pack the essentials. Your packing is dependent on where you are heading to for your winter sun vacation. If you have planned to go out of city then the packing list becomes longer, because then you would need more things than you would have needed for a nearby winter sun vacation venue.

Your packing will comprise of the following list of items:

You need to have your important documents in place before packing any other thing. You need to have your passports, driving license, guide book, accommodation list, address book and emergency list packed.

Once you are done with getting your documents in place, you should then pack your clothes. For a winter sun vacation, you would definitely need more tops than pants. You need to make sure that you will utilize the clothes you are packing for yourself, because there is no use in adding more stuff, if you will not even touch it.

Remember that any dress item left behind can still be bought. You definitely need to pack casual clothes such as jeans, 4 to 5 tops (depending on the length of your winter sun vacation), flip flops, caps, a rain coat, wind breaker and an umbrella. You can also pack pretty sun dresses and trendy shirts for your winter sun vacation.

Your packing is not only about clothes, but it includes many other items too. You need to pack your bathroom kit along with a sewing and electrical kit. You need to take your camera along, because at the end of the day you will be only left with memories captured by your camera.

You need to pack stuff for the games and activities you want to indulge in during your winter sun holiday. You can pack badminton rackets, football, cricket kit or any other sport kit, depending on your interest. Similarly, you can even take indoor games with you. This is not it, you also need to pack stuff for your health, which will include sunscreens, tablets, toiletries and other products to keep you fit and healthy.

If you are going to a beach, for you winter sun holiday, you definitely need to pack your shorts and bikinis, because you will not be able to fully enjoy your trip if you do not get to swim. Make sure that you make a checklist of your packing stuff before hand; this way you will be fully equipped and packed for your winter sun holiday.

During the winter holiday season, it can often seem difficult coming up with fun activities that the entire family will enjoy, especially the kids. The cold weather can often make people feel bored and depressed. Fortunately, there are many holiday activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family, including small children. Below are a number of winter holiday activities that will help keep the winter blues away.

1. If you live in an area where there is a lot of snow each winter, you can take your family skiing. Your children can take advantage of qualified ski instructors and practice on the bunny hill. The adults and older children will have a great time on the slopes. If skiing is not a popular choice, there is also snowboarding, cross country skiing, hiking on nature trails, horse sleigh rides, sledding, snowmobiling, ice-skating, horse-back riding, snow-tubing, and snow-shoeing, Enjoying time in the fresh air will rejuvenate the entire family. If you want to spend time outside close to home, building snowmen in the yard is fun for the whole family.

2. During the winter holidays, your local community organizations will hold a variety of holiday events. For instance, take your children to the mall to see Santa, attend local plays and musicals such as the “Nut Cracker,” attend musical events put on by community organizations, and take in a holiday parade and a tree lighting. There are also many holiday craft festivals that your family can attend. As well, have a special dress-up evening where the entire family goes to a nice restaurant for a delicious meal.

3. There are many activities a family can do at home during the winter holidays. Making a gingerbread house together is always a fun activity. The family can also decorate the home together, get a Christmas tree together and decorate it. Making homemade ornaments is always fun. As well, making holiday cookies and other sweets is a fun family activity. The holidays are also a great time to watch all of those classic holiday movies. Board games are another fun family activity. There are many games that the entire family can play together.

4. The holidays are a special time of giving. Get your family to volunteer for a special cause. For instance you and your family can donate old clothing to a homeless shelter, visit a nursing home and entertain the residents, make food for a homeless shelter, walk dogs at a dog rescue shelter, give away old toys for needy families, and much more. Check your local community to see what charities may need your help. You can show your kids that helping others is an important part of celebrating the holidays.

It is essential to plan ahead for holiday activities. Take some time to sit down with a pen and notepad and come up with a list of activity ideas. You can even ask your family what they would like to do to celebrate the holidays. Whatever family activity you choose, it will make your holidays much more fun and provide you and your family with long lasting memories.
